About Transition Planning Now

Transition Planning Now is an initiative from the Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC) and industry partners. Meeting Canada’s climate targets and ensuring our real estate market has access to high-demand, zero carbon buildings, requires the building sector quadruple its
retrofit rates.

As we move closer toward the decarbonization of the built environment in 2050, real estate owners, investors and managers need to accelerate their adoption of and compliance with the highest tiers of the NECB and regional high-performance codes and regulations. At the same time, assets and business continuity are dependent on the successful mitigation of rising physical and transition risks.

That’s why CAGBC, along with REALPAC, has created the tools, training and resources the sector needs to successfully implement strategies that result in buildings with high-performance outcomes and favourable returns.

Our partners

Transition Planning Now is supported by REALPAC, the national association representing executives and decision-makers in the Canadian commercial real estate industry. Together, REALPAC and CAGBC support Canada’s capacity to retrofit buildings for the future.

The Canadian Council for Indigenous Business is also a key contributor, providing insights on the distinct needs of Indigenous building owners, and opportunities for Indigenous businesses in transition planning.
